The buildings are getting smarter and technology is getting sophisticated. This is where India is catching up in a major way and in this, a significant role has been played by facility management industry as it avoids any disruption in business management.”

Major General Sanjay Soi, Motivational Speaker Mentor International Affairs and Defence Expert, said “ As we all know that both facility and security industry are part and parcel of our daily lives, if we see closely then we’ll realise these both industry actually have common agenda as both of them allow an individual to work smoothly in a hassle free situation, security and facility are quite interconnected as facility people are eyes and ears of security professionals for example if a security guard notices a loose wire he’ll call a electrician to prevent fire hazard and if any house keeping staff notices a suspicious activity happening in a hotel then he’ll definitely call some security person to its rescue, so there is no debate that both industry needs cooperation and coordination among them for their smooth operation.”

Lt. Cdr Ajit Singh Yadav, Head of Administration & Facilities at One97 Communications Ltd (Paytm) emphasised ,“Today the facility management industry is valued at $148 billion and CAGR more than 7%, till 2029 it’ll reach $212 bn. Facility management comprises of 3p i.e, people, place and process, adding up to the sustainability part which is the focus nowadays, the green building aspects, the ESG part is the main theme of discussion, as government is also keen towards reducing carbon footprint, energy conservation, water conservation so corporates are also complying to these norms and coupled with technology which is another pillar in the field of facility management. Tools like AI and IoT are revolutionising the field and with technology, it is important to keep track of data because today technology is pacing really fast so to match that pace data comes in handy and for facility management organisations, it becomes more important to keep track of data as their public dealing is high and they need to be on edge for continuous upgradation.”

Col (Dr.) Inderjeet Singh, Founder & CEO, CyberSleuths, highlighted, “Apart from physical security, the focus should be more on cybersecurity now as the facility industry’s public dealing is high so it naturally becomes vulnerable to cyber attack as data is the jewel in today’s world, for example on Friday night ,cinema halls are tightly packed so it is really favourable situation for any hacker to show his skills, so facility management industry should really upgrade themselves in this cybersecurity aspects as this is one of those industry that are always prone to cyberattacks. The enormous data present with the facility industry if leaked on the dark web can cause havoc so it’s really important for cyber experts and security people to work together.”

Lt. Bhaskar Shukla, CSO-Delhi NCR, JK Cement, expressed “I think security should be counted as part of the facility industry only as when we feel secure whether it is in the work place or at home we give our best so for us to work effectively it is important for us to be secured, there are different research projects going on to improve the security aspect in facility industry.”
