With the Mahakumbh 2025 festival drawing near, authorities in Uttar Pradesh are leaving no stone unturned to ensure a secure and smooth experience for the millions of devotees expected to attend the grand event. Inspector General of Police, Prayagraj, Tarun Gaba, has announced the implementation of a robust seven-layer security framework designed to avert any untoward incidents during the mass religious gathering.

Speaking to ANI on Wednesday, Gaba emphasised the scale and significance of the Mahakumbh, calling it “the biggest gathering of humanity.” He assured that the authorities are “committed to providing good arrangements” to facilitate a safe and orderly celebration. “We are ensuring impenetrable and foolproof security here. A seven-layer security scheme has been implemented, involving rigorous checks at various levels to identify suspicious individuals. We are also working closely with state and central agencies to enhance our preparedness,” Gaba said.

The security measures include deploying AI-enabled surveillance, with 2,700 cameras installed across key locations to monitor the event. Gaba stressed that the deployment of advanced technology and the coordination between agencies aim to ensure that the Mahakumbh is conducted safely and efficiently.

Intensive Checking Campaign Underway

On Tuesday, the Uttar Pradesh Police launched a comprehensive checking campaign under the leadership of Deputy Inspector General of Police Vaibhav Krishna. The campaign focuses on intensifying surveillance at high-risk areas, including Sangam Ghat, pontoon bridges, and key intersections. Krishna directed station in-charges to enhance vigilance in their jurisdictions, adopting a proactive approach to identify and mitigate potential threats.

Special security measures have been implemented to maintain public safety and prevent any incidents that could disrupt the festival. “The focus is on thorough monitoring of suspicious activities and ensuring that security protocols are strictly followed,” Krishna stated.

Meanwhile, Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, visited Prayagraj to assess the preparations for the Mahakumbh. Mohol conducted a meeting with airport officials to review the arrangements for devotees arriving in large numbers. During his visit, he also performed a puja at Triveni Ghat, expressing satisfaction with the ongoing preparations.

“I am very happy to see the excellent arrangements here. Under the leadership of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ji, I will ensure that all facilities for visitors are well-coordinated, so there is no chaos,” said Mohol.

The Mahakumbh, held every 12 years at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers, is a deeply revered event for Hindus. With millions of pilgrims and tourists expected, the Uttar Pradesh government has been working tirelessly to ensure that infrastructure, security, and logistical arrangements are up to par.
