A man was arrested early Sunday morning after allegedly firing shots into the air following an argument with a security guard at Hampton Homes, a residential society on Chandigarh Road.
The incident occurred around 5 a.m. when Shubham Bansal, a businessman involved in the iron trade, entered the society. According to police reports, Bansal became agitated when he couldn’t find a parking spot and got into a heated argument with the security guard. In a fit of rage, he fired shots using his licensed firearm.
The security guard immediately informed the police, and Bansal was arrested on the spot. His firearm was seized, and fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
Police sources said that Bansal was under the influence of alcohol at the time. “We are now in the process of canceling his arms license,” an officer stated. A case has been registered against him, and further investigation is underway.
