Odisha’s Director General of Police, Sunil Kumar Bansal, unveiled a mascot for a statewide awareness campaign on cyber safety that is to be held from September 30 to October 15
As part of Odisha Police’s efforts to promote cyber safety, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will kick off a campaign with 34 ‘cyber safety rathas’ from Kalinga Stadium last Saturday. This campaign aims to raise awareness about cyber crimes and educate people on protecting themselves from online scammers.
During a recent event, DGP Sunil Kumar Bansal unveiled the campaign’s logo and mascot, which resembles an Irrawaddy dolphin. The mascot is named Cyrra, a combination of “cybercrime” and “Irrawaddy.”
These cyber safety rathas will tour the state, covering all block headquarters and police stations over the next two weeks. They will share awareness messages in local languages through audio, visual, and printed materials. Starting on October 2, they will follow a pre-planned route, stopping at public places like markets, offices, and hamlets to play audio/video messages on cyber safety.
From October 3, daily workshops and quiz competitions on cyber safety will be conducted in at least two educational institutions in each district. Local language experts will accompany the rathas.
Simultaneously, an online campaign will run across social media platforms, radio, electronic, and print media to share cyber safety messages. You can find updates on cyber safety through the social media handle @cybercopodisha on platforms like X (formerly known as Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
