Pune Police’s Swift Investigation In Porsche Case Reinforces Public Trust

The recent investigation by Pune Police into the Porsche case showcased the equal application of law, reaffirming public confidence in the city’s judicial system. Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, IPS, emphasised the importance of impartiality in law enforcement during his address at the ‘Surakshit Pune Awards 2024’. He highlighted the swift arrest of the accused, which was executed without yielding to financial or social pressures, as a testament to the integrity of the police force. “This impartial approach diminishes criticism while fostering confidence in the police,” he stated.

Held in collaboration with Team SymX, Pune Security Professionals (PSP), and ASIS Pune Chapter as knowledge partners, the ceremony celebrated the city’s commitment to safety and security. Air Marshal (Retd.) Bhushan Gokhale, the brand ambassador for the Surakshit Pune initiative, and Pune Chief Fire Officer Shri Devendra Potphode were among the distinguished guests present. Commissioner Kumar, the event’s Chief Guest, commended the critical role of vigilant citizens in enhancing public safety. He urged Pune’s residents to adopt modern security measures such as CCTV systems and collaborate closely with the police to ensure a secure urban environment. “Pune, with its population exceeding 8 million, is a dynamic city that demands continuous vigilance,” he added.

Shri Devendra Potphode acknowledged the challenges faced by first responders, including the city’s dense population, congested streets, and industrial safety concerns. He expressed gratitude for the recognition given to security personnel, noting, “Despite limited resources, the fire brigade remains committed to efficient service delivery.”

Air Marshal Gokhale highlighted the crucial link between internal security and national security, particularly in today’s evolving landscape. He encouraged the younger generation to embrace innovative solutions for modern security challenges, ensuring a safer future.

Special accolades were given to HSBC Bank’s Integrated Security Operation Centre, HSBC Software Development India’s Business Continuity and Incident Management team, and WeWork India Management Pvt. Ltd.

CBRE received the award for Innovative Security Technology Team of the Year for its revolutionary ERP application for security operations, ATOM.

Outstanding individual contributions were also acknowledged, with awards presented to Ambrish Purohit, Rajendra Sonawane, Kiran Chinchore, and Jyoti Meena. The prestigious ‘Tigers of Pune’ award celebrated the dedication of Jasmine Shaikh, Mayur Pansare, Kiran Potdar, Ganesh Kamble, Sonu Pandey, Bhanudas Akolkar, Rajat Kabdal, Gajanand Thoke, and Neel Gaikwad.

Two standout honours were presented during the evening: the “Alert Citizen of the Year” award to Ayush Jamalamakada and the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ to Colonel Sandeep Sudan for his exceptional contributions to the security fraternity and society.

The event, hosted by Kashyata Bhatia, began with a welcome address from Purvesh Gada, founder of Team SymX, a global risk advisory firm. The ceremony concluded with a celebration of excellence in public service, safety, and security, leaving attendees inspired by the collective commitment to a safer Pune.
