Facility Management
The shared accommodation is amongst biologically unrelated people as families are smaller now and goals are different of individuals

Ananta Singh Raghuvanshi, President, NAREDCO MAHI said, MAHI is the the women’s wing for NAREDCO, the National Association of real estate developers. The Women’s wing is working towards four causes. It’s gender integration, water saving, ESG, skilling and Startup Incubator.

On shift towards professionally managed shared accommodation, she said “I think ever since human beings were born accommodation has always been shared. At least my generation has seen the joint families, the nuclear families from plots to low rise to high rise to flats to condominiums to smart cities. Accommodation has always been shared. The difference is that the shared accommodation is amongst biologically unrelated people. Families are smaller. Goals are different. Independence of mind, and societal changes are also the reason.”

She added, we have changed the way we live in homes. We’ve changed the way we shop also from high streets, to our shopping malls to shopping centres to whatever it is and also work.

“One of course is home sharing. What does home share mean? Here facilities management has to happen. Different needs, different requirements, different sensibilities. What else is happening co living? This is different from the first point, biologically unrelated individuals, so it’s furnished there are meals, there’s laundry, housekeeping security and community programs,” said Ananta Singh on recent trends.

She added, a lot of people are doing this very successfully. So, we must prepare ourselves in the future for something like this.
