In the Noida case, a woman fell victim to a WhatsApp private job scam, losing Rs 4.3 lakh. The scammers followed a familiar pattern: the victim received a message offering a part-time job on WhatsApp. The fraudsters claimed she only needed to like, comment, and share YouTube videos. As trust was built with small payments for initial tasks, the scammers eventually assigned a “prime task,” resulting in the significant loss.
Authorities in Noida have taken the matter seriously, registering a case against the cyber fraud at Sector 58 Noida police station. Investigations are underway to apprehend the culprits.
This Noida case is not isolated; similar scams have been reported in Pune and Gurugram. In Pune, an Ophthalmologist lost over Rs 33 lakh to scammers who promised a well-paying part-time job involving simple tasks on YouTube. In Gurugram, another individual suffered financial losses after being targeted through WhatsApp for what seemed like a legitimate job opportunity.
