Accenture has announced its intention to acquire CyberCX, a prominent Australian cybersecurity provider, in what is being described as the firm’s largest acquisition in the cybersecurity sector to date.

The transaction, estimated at over A\USD 1 billion (approximately USD 650 million), though not officially confirmed, was reported by the Australian Financial Review. The move underscores the rising demand for robust digital security services amid escalating cyber threats globally.

Founded in 2019 in Melbourne through the merger of a dozen smaller firms, CyberCX has grown to employ around 1,400 cybersecurity professionals. It maintains advanced security operations centres across Australia and New Zealand, with satellite offices in London and New York.

Accenture, which has pursued an aggressive cybersecurity expansion strategy and completed 20 acquisitions in the sector since 2015, said the integration of CyberCX will significantly enhance its capabilities in Asia-Pacific. The deal aims to improve enterprise resilience, protect critical infrastructure, and offer secure digital transformation services in an increasingly complex regulatory and threat landscape.

Peter Burns, who leads Accenture’s operations in Australia and New Zealand, said client demand for cybersecurity services is intensifying as digital environments become more interconnected and threats traverse value chains and supply networks. Paolo Dal Cin, Accenture’s Global Lead for Cybersecurity, added that combining CyberCX’s strong regional relationships and advanced offerings with Accenture’s AI-driven capabilities will transform cybersecurity into a strategic advantage for clients across the region.

CyberCX’s chief executive, John Paitaridis, expressed pride in the business built since its inception and optimism for the future under Accenture’s global umbrella. He highlighted the opportunity to deliver world-class cybersecurity services to a broader clientele across Asia-Pacific.

As the deal awaits customary regulatory approvals, it marks a notable shift in the cybersecurity landscape—one that signals heightened vigilance and ambition as Accenture continues to position cybersecurity not just as a defensive necessity, but as a cornerstone of business strategy.
