Operations were temporarily disrupted but resumed after the threat was ruled out as a hoax
A bomb threat at Pune International Airport triggered a significant security operation on Monday, leading to the temporary evacuation of staff and passengers from a private airline’s office.
According to officials, the alarm was raised after the airline received an anonymous warning suggesting the presence of an explosive device on the premises. Security agencies, including the local police, bomb disposal squad, and airport security personnel, launched a coordinated response.
“Upon receiving the threat, standard protocol was initiated,” a senior airport official said. “The affected area was evacuated, and a thorough search operation was conducted. No suspicious objects were found.”
Operations were temporarily disrupted but resumed after the threat was ruled out as a hoax. Authorities have launched an investigation to trace the origin of the call and determine whether it was a deliberate attempt to sow panic.
The incident has renewed scrutiny over airport security measures, particularly at regional hubs. While no injuries or damage were reported, officials have reiterated the importance of public vigilance and swift reporting of suspicious activity.
