Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials from the Information Technology, Electronics, and Communications (ITE&C) Department to establish a dedicated cybersecurity wing. This initiative aims to address the increasing threat posed by cybercriminals and to attract more IT companies to the state by offering them substantial support.
During a review meeting on the ITE&C Department and the Real-Time Governance Society (RTGS) at the Secretariat, Mr. Naidu emphasised the state’s potential to evolve into a startup hub. He instructed officials to identify suitable land for the development of a drone technology park, suggesting collaboration with premier institutes like IIM-Visakhapatnam and IIT-Tirupati.
Highlighting the interest of IT companies in expanding to Tier-II cities, Mr. Naidu urged the ITE&C Department to draw attention to the state’s advantages, encouraging these companies to set up their operations locally. He also called for the development of new and innovative mobile applications to streamline citizen services.
Regarding educational initiatives, Mr. Naidu noted SRM University’s interest in establishing an Artificial Intelligence University, while the Reliance Group expressed a desire to set up a data center in the state. He also mentioned the need to reactivate thousands of CCTV cameras installed during the TDP regime from 2014 to 2019.
IT Minister Nara Lokesh expressed the Chief Minister’s sentiments, stating that the ITE&C Department is formulating an action plan to further develop the sector. The meeting was attended by Additional Secretary to the Chief Minister Kartikeya Mishra, AP State Fibernet Limited’s Dinesh Kumar, and other officials.
