The Cyberabad police recently convened a meeting with representatives of private security agencies in the city to discuss measures aimed at enhancing security protocols and ensuring public safety. Representatives from 145 private security agencies participated in the session.
During the meeting, the police emphasised that all private security agencies operating in Telangana must hold a valid licence under the Private Security Agencies (Regulation) Act (PSARA). These licences are issued by the Director General of Intelligence, Telangana, and are mandatory for legal operations within the state.
The agencies were also directed to ensure that their security personnel avoid wearing uniforms resembling those of the police, military, or paramilitary forces. This precaution is intended to prevent potential misuse and minimise public confusion.
According to Cyberabad police, there are currently 355 licensed private security agencies operating within their jurisdiction, all deploying personnel in unarmed roles. The police urged the agencies to remain vigilant and promptly report any criminal incidents they encounter to facilitate swift action by law enforcement authorities.
The meeting highlighted the importance of collaboration between private security agencies and the police to strengthen the overall security framework and build a safer community.
