GNIDA To Offer Temporary Housing For CISF Personnel Ahead Of Noida International Airport Launch

In the first phase of airport operations, a total of 1,047 CISF personnel are expected to be stationed at the airport

The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) is preparing to allot around 200 residential flats on rent as temporary housing for Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel who will soon be deployed at the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar.

In the first phase of airport operations, a total of 1,047 CISF personnel are expected to be stationed at the airport. Among them, 447 officers will be accompanied by their families and require suitable accommodation. The remaining personnel, primarily bachelors, will be housed in quarters constructed within the airport complex by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), the airport concessionaire.

To meet the immediate housing needs, GNIDA has identified nearly 200 vacant flats under its multi-storey housing schemes located in Sector Omicron 1A. These include 119 Lower Income Group (LIG) flats, each measuring approximately 58 square metres, and 74 Middle Income Group (MIG) flats, each around 83 square metres, situated in A and E blocks respectively.

A proposal to allot these vacant flats to various government departments — including police, judiciary, district administration, and industrial development — was recently discussed at the GNIDA board meeting. During the meeting, Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh, who also chairs the GNIDA board, advised that priority should be given to CISF personnel, given the pressing need tied to the upcoming launch of airport operations.

While these arrangements will provide a short-term solution, long-term accommodation plans are also underway. The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has earmarked 13.5 acres of land in Sector 22A for the construction of permanent housing for CISF staff. However, these units will take time to materialise.

CISF had requested the land be allotted free of cost to expedite the housing project, but YEIDA has turned down the appeal. Instead, YEIDA has decided to retain ownership of the land and will issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) to engage a private developer for construction.

This step is seen as part of broader efforts to ensure that security arrangements at the Noida International Airport are fully in place before operations begin, while also addressing the residential needs of the deployed personnel in a phased and planned manner.
