IIT Guwahati, Imarticus Learning Launches Certificate Programme In Cybersecurity

The programme focuses on skill development and practical knowledge, offering an industry-relevant curriculum designed by faculty members of IIT Guwahati and cybersecurity experts

E&ICT Academy at IIT Guwahati, known for its engineering excellence, has recently introduced a 10-month advanced certificate programme in Cybersecurity and Blockchain in collaboration with Imarticus Learning. The online programme aims to equip individuals with the necessary skills for India’s growing cybersecurity market, projected to reach $3.5 billion by 2027, with an expected annual growth rate of 8.05 per cent.

This Advanced Certificate programme targets cyber enthusiasts with a background in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and 0 to 5 years of experience. The initiative has been described as “innovative” by the Principal Investigator of E&ICT Academy at IIT Guwahati, emphasising its potential to enhance cybersecurity practices and risk management for organisations.

Prof. Gaurav Trivedi, Associate Professor at IIT Guwahati, expressed optimism about the collaboration with Imarticus Learning, highlighting its contribution to interdisciplinary education and industry partnerships.

Nikhil Barshikar, Founder and CEO of Imarticus Learning, said that “practical aspects of the programme,  would prepare cybersecurity aspirants to tackle real-world challenges such as phishing scams and blockchain attacks effectively.”

The programme focuses on skill development and practical knowledge, offering an industry-relevant curriculum designed by faculty members of IIT Guwahati and cybersecurity experts. Subjects covered include SQL injection, IoT hacking, cloud computing, cryptography, hacking web applications, and social engineering.

Live interactive sessions are also included, covering topics such as networking fundamentals, blockchain, ethical hacking, and vulnerability assessment. Moreover, the course provides training in industry-centric tools like VMware, Kali OS, Nessus, Wireshark, Nmap, John the Ripper, Virtual Box, Angry IP Scanner, OpenVAS, SNMP, and Metasploit to facilitate career advancement.

The programme also offers a campus immersion experience at IIT Guwahati, providing participants with a deeper understanding of the cybersecurity landscape and networking opportunities with academicians and researchers.
