The system is fully integrated, consolidating its display, computer, communications, and power supplies into a single, waterproof case
3D X-Ray, a UK-based security technology company, has secured a follow-on contract to supply its advanced Threatscan-AS1 portable X-ray inspection systems to a major Middle Eastern Law Enforcement Agency. The sale is a repeat order, reflecting the agency’s continued reliance on 3D X-Ray systems already in service with its Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and search teams.
The system, specifically the Threatscan-AS1(ISC) variant, is a robust, amorphous silicon portable inspection tool designed for high-stakes threat scenarios. It is engineered for rapid deployment by first responders, including police, border officers, and military personnel, in busy, sensitive environments. The Threatscan-AS1(ISC) package includes a large 43cm x 35cm detector panel, a powerful 150kV X-ray generator for high penetration, and a rugged laptop running the user-friendly Threatspect software.
The system is fully integrated, consolidating its display, computer, communications, and power supplies into a single, waterproof case. This integrated design allows for straightforward deployment and promises extremely high-quality, sub-millimetre resolution images in real time. The addition of a secondary display tablet further enhances flexibility in deployment.
The technology is primarily used for inspecting suspicious packages and bags in mass transit areas, including:
Rail and bus stations
Airports
Shopping centres
Sports and entertainment venues
Vincent Deery, CEO of 3D X-Ray Ltd, commented on the significance of the repeat order: “This follow-on contract shows that a long-established user has continued faith in our systems but also underscores our commitment to supporting our law enforcement customers with advanced technology that enhances their capabilities in ensuring public safety.”
