Punjab National Bank (PNB), one of India’s largest public sector banks, celebrated its 131st Foundation Day by unveiling 34 new products and services aimed at strengthening digital adoption, financial inclusion, and customer service. The event, held at the PNB Headquarters in Dwarka, New Delhi, was marked by the presence of senior government officials, bank executives, staff and customers.

Shri M. Nagaraju, Secretary, Department of Financial Services (DFS), was the Chief Guest at the event. He praised the bank’s efforts in expanding access to banking through innovative products and digital channels. He also noted PNB’s ongoing work in promoting cybersecurity awareness among citizens, underlining the institution’s focus on secure and responsible banking.

“PNB’s offerings are not just modern in design but also meaningful in impact. Their focus on financial inclusion and customer-centric innovation is commendable,” said Shri Nagaraju.

The occasion was attended by Shri Ashok Chandra, MD & CEO of PNB, along with Executive Directors Shri Kalyan Kumar, Shri M. Paramasivam, Shri Bibhu Prasad Mahapatra and Shri D. Surendran.

Reflecting on the bank’s legacy and forward-looking initiatives, Shri Ashok Chandra said, “PNB has been a cornerstone in India’s development, offering credit across every sector and ensuring financial inclusion throughout the nation. Our initiatives have supported the underprivileged, empowered citizens, educated the youth, increased farmers’ income, and fostered entrepreneurship—all aligned with the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047. As a customer-first bank, we are continuously refining our grievance redressal system, improving call center operations, and leveraging QR codes for effective customer feedback to enhance service quality.”

The Foundation Day was marked by the launch of a wide range of products and services, including 12 deposit schemes targeted at diverse customer groups such as salaried professionals, women, defence personnel, farmers, NRIs, senior citizens, pensioners, and youth. These schemes come with features like customised account numbers, insurance coverage, health benefits, and enhanced debit card options.

Among the key products introduced were the PNB Salary Savings Accounts (Neo, Excel, Optima, Imperial), PNB Women Power Scheme (Pearl, Emerald, Solitaire), PNB Kisan Saving Fund (Harit, Samriddhi), PNB Rakshak Plus for armed forces and police personnel, and PNB Samman Account tailored for senior citizens and pensioners.

In line with its digital strategy, PNB also rolled out 10 technology-driven services. These include single-window DEMAT and trading account onboarding, digital loan facilities against deposits, and WhatsApp-based fixed deposit booking. Other notable offerings include GST Express Loans for new-to-bank customers of up to ₹1 crore, Digi MSME Loans up to ₹25 lakh, and self-onboarding options for Savings and PPF accounts.

The bank has also taken steps to enhance digital interaction and customer feedback by introducing a QR code-based feedback system and a live-chat assistant named “Pihu”.

Recognising the role of social responsibility in banking, PNB announced new collaborations through its CSR arm, PNB PRERNA — an association of senior women officers and spouses of senior officials. As part of these efforts, the bank partnered with the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) to support the education and wellbeing of underprivileged tribal students in Bhubaneswar. In another initiative, it collaborated with Water for People India Trust for its “Harvest for Resilience” project focused on water sustainability. PNB also extended support to government schools in Delhi through donations of essential infrastructure materials.

The celebration concluded with cultural performances by PNB employees and live music by singers Meiyang Chang and Jahnvi Shrimankar, capturing the spirit of unity and service that has defined the bank’s journey for more than a century.
