SAP Appoints Indian Leaders To Global AI Roles, Highlighting Country’s Growing Tech Influence

These strategic appointments include Rahul Lodhe as the Global Head of Engineering for SAP Business AI Copilot Joule and Sudhakar Singh as the Chief AI Security Officer

Global software leader SAP has announced the appointment of two senior leaders from SAP Labs India to crucial global artificial intelligence (AI) roles. This move emphasises the increasing significance of Indian talent in the company’s technological strategies and aligns with SAP’s plan to double its AI talent base in India by the end of the year.

Rahul Lodhe has been named the Global Head of Engineering for SAP Business AI Copilot Joule, while Sudhakar Singh takes on the role of Chief AI Security Officer. Sindhu Gangadharan, Managing Director of SAP Labs India and Head of Customer Innovation Services at SAP, remarked, “India’s transformation from a traditional back office to a vibrant innovation hub in the global tech landscape is undeniable. As multinational corporations increasingly establish their global leadership and oversee teams worldwide from India, SAP’s decision to appoint two leaders from SAP Labs India to critical global AI roles underscores our commitment to empowering Indian talent on the world stage.”

Rahul Lodhe, a veteran leader with 24 years of experience at SAP, will lead as the Global Head of Engineering for SAP Business AI Copilot Joule. In his new role, Lodhe will collaborate with leaders across various Lines of Business (LOBs) to facilitate the integration of Joule. SAP stated that Lodhe would provide essential technical leadership, set strategic directions, and encourage innovation to deliver high-quality software solutions. He will also shape the product vision and strategy, ensuring alignment with market trends in Generative AI, customer needs, and SAP’s overarching business goals.

Sudhakar Singh, who has over 20 years of experience in cybersecurity and has been with SAP for 12 years, has been appointed as the Chief AI Security Officer. Singh will lead initiatives focused on ensuring the security and compliance of SAP’s AI solutions, with an emphasis on cybersecurity, data privacy, and AI regulations. He will work closely with global security teams and customer success departments to maintain high standards of security and privacy for customer data and operations.

Lodhe expressed the goals of his new position, stating, “Our primary objective is to seamlessly integrate Generative AI capabilities across SAP’s extensive portfolio and deliver on board a mandate of 80 percent of the most used tasks will be managed via Joule. This initiative aims to not only enhance productivity but also redefine how businesses leverage AI to redefine user experience. By collaborating closely with diverse teams, we are poised to innovate rapidly and deliver cutting-edge solutions that meet and exceed our customers’ expectations.”

Similarly, Singh highlighted the evolving nature of AI security, noting, “The landscape of AI security is evolving rapidly, and ensuring the security and privacy of AI solutions is crucial for fostering trust and enabling continuous innovation.”

Gangadharan further commented on the appointments, stating, “I eagerly anticipate the contributions Rahul and Sudhakar will make to SAP’s strategic initiatives in Business AI, propelling SAP Labs India to new heights of innovation and leadership.”

These strategic appointments reflect SAP’s commitment to leveraging India’s growing talent pool to drive global innovation and leadership in AI, marking a significant step in SAP’s ongoing efforts to expand its capabilities and market reach in the AI domain.
