Suprema, a global leader in AI-powered biometric and security technologies, has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hyundai Motor Group. The partnership aims to combine the strengths of both companies in artificial intelligence and robotics to develop comprehensive security solutions for the future.
The agreement focuses on creating innovative business models by integrating Suprema’s AI-based security platforms with the advanced robotics technology developed by Hyundai Motor Group’s Robotics LAB. Key areas of collaboration include the development of AI-robotics integrated security systems, deployment of autonomous robot services within building infrastructures, and the creation of new security offerings powered by robotics. Additionally, both companies intend to work towards setting industry standards in these emerging fields.
This collaboration is expected to pave the way for next-generation, AI-driven building security services. These services will cater to various facilities such as premium office complexes, hospitals, and luxury hotels. Suprema’s AI-based platform will enable complete control over building security and infrastructure, fostering environments where humans and robots can safely operate side by side. The systems will support autonomous navigation for robots while offering a wide range of services specifically designed for robot-friendly buildings.
Suprema and Hyundai Motor Group have already demonstrated the potential of their partnership. At Factorial Seongsu—South Korea’s first commercialised robot-friendly building—they successfully deployed a security solution that integrates Suprema’s facial recognition-based access control technology with autonomous robots. Building on this achievement, the two companies will continue to develop specialised security services using robotics hardware and software, with the goal of further strengthening physical security.
Commenting on the partnership, Hanchul Kim, CEO of Suprema Inc., said, “This partnership marks a significant milestone as we open a new era of unmanned security services that integrate AI and robotics. We plan to expand our collaboration with Hyundai Motor Group Robotics LAB to develop AI-driven, robot-friendly building security solutions. Our system will seamlessly integrate cloud technology, robotics, AI, various sensors, and on-site response solutions. Furthermore, we aim to establish ourselves as a global leader in integrated security platforms featuring AI-driven automation, including advanced technologies such as AI drones and acoustic detection systems.”
Dong Jin Hyun, Vice President and Head of Hyundai Motor Group’s Robotics LAB, also emphasised the importance of integrating robotics with access control systems. “Access control serves a critical function in developing intelligent robot-friendly spaces. Through integration with access control solutions, we will propose a new industry standard in which robots with humans overcome infrastructural issues and take advantage of greater mobility and seamless services,” he said. “We aim to expand offerings beyond the existing static form factors within the physical security industry and create new business opportunities through Robotics LAB’s RTS (Robotics Total Solution) model.”
The collaboration signifies a broader shift towards incorporating AI and robotics into everyday infrastructure, potentially reshaping the future of physical security across industries.
