The collaboration is poised to create thousands of jobs and open up new opportunities for the youth of Telangana
The Telangana government has joined hands with Google to establish India’s first cybersecurity hub in Hyderabad. This initiative will feature the Google Safety Engineering Centre (GSEC), a state-of-the-art facility that marks its debut in India. Globally, GSEC centres exist in only four locations—Tokyo (Japan), Dublin (Ireland), Munich (Germany), and Malaga (Spain). Hyderabad’s centre will be the second in the Asia-Pacific region, reflecting its growing importance as a technology hub.
The GSEC will focus on advanced research, artificial intelligence-driven security solutions, and fostering collaborations among cybersecurity experts and researchers. It is also expected to enhance India’s cybersecurity capabilities, generate employment, and support skill development in this critical field.
The decision was formalised during a meeting between Google’s Chief Information Officer, Royal Hansen, and Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, alongside IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu, at the Chief Minister’s residence in Jubilee Hills. The announcement was later shared by the Chief Minister on his verified X account.
“Delighted to share that, along with my ministerial colleague Shri @OffDSB garu…we closed a major cutting-edge technology investment partnership with Google for Hyderabad,” wrote CM Reddy. He also highlighted Hyderabad’s selection as a testament to its technological prowess, noting that this development would transform the city into a global hub for safety engineering and cybersecurity.
The collaboration is poised to create thousands of jobs and open up new opportunities for the youth of Telangana. Industry observers expect this initiative to boost the region’s standing in cybersecurity research and innovation, further solidifying Hyderabad’s position as a technology leader.
