Through a series of outreach activities, including cybersecurity training sessions, awareness campaigns, youth outreach programs, and community engagement activities the #GiveBackToGurugram campaign aims to equip residents with the skills they need to stay safe online
Vivo, a global smartphone brand, has joined forces with the Gurugram Cyber Police for the GiveBackToGurugram campaign. The initiative aims to raise awareness about cybersecurity issues and empower residents of Gurugram to protect themselves against online threats.
With cybercrime incidents increasing at an alarming rate, individuals and organizations are at risk of falling victim to scams and frauds. The campaign seeks to address this pressing issue by promoting safe online practices and providing residents with the necessary knowledge and tools to safeguard their digital presence.
Through a series of outreach activities, including cybersecurity training sessions, awareness campaigns, youth outreach programs, and community engagement activities, the #GiveBackToGurugram campaign aims to equip residents with the skills they need to stay safe online. Additionally, the initiative advocates for the use of the national helpline number – 1930 – for reporting cybercrime and accessing support services for victims.
Emphasising the importance of caution in sharing personal information and interacting with unfamiliar individuals, both online and offline, the program underscores the significance of safeguarding privacy to prevent falling victim to cyber scams. To further amplify its message, banners and hoardings are prominently displayed at Millennium/Huda and Sikanderpur Metro stations, within the yellow line metro rail, on social media platforms, and in IT parks across Gurugram.
Recent statistics reveal the severity of the cybercrime situation in Gurugram, with residents suffering losses exceeding Rs 300 crores in 2023 due to cyber frauds. Alarmingly, only 1 out of 50 cases were reported to authorities, underscoring the urgent need for cybersecurity awareness and preparedness.
Geetaj Channana, Head of Corporate Strategy at vivo India, expressed the brand’s commitment to cybersecurity, stating, “As a leading and responsible smartphone brand, we take our commitment to cybersecurity seriously. In today’s digital age, it’s crucial for everyone to be aware of the risks and to take steps to protect themselves online.”
Channana further added, “We’re pleased to announce our partnership with Gurugram Cyber Police for the #GiveBackToGurugram campaign, which is a part of our CSR initiative. Together, we aim to raise awareness about cyber threats and empower residents to protect themselves online, fostering a safer digital environment in Gurugram.”
The initiative has garnered support from Priyanshu Diwan, ACP, Cyber Crime, Gurugram, who stated, “This program is a call to action for all residents of Gurugram to stay vigilant and protect themselves against cyber threats.” Mayank Agarwal, Founder of GiveBackToGurugram, expressed confidence in the initiative’s ability to make a meaningful impact in raising awareness about cybersecurity and promoting a safer digital environment for Gurugram residents.
Through its comprehensive 360-degree integrated campaign, the #GiveBackToGurugram initiative aims to provide resources and raise awareness about the most pressing cybersecurity issues, urging residents to stay vigilant and protect themselves online.
