Genetec Strengthens Lead In Global Video Surveillance Software Market

Genetec has reinforced its position as the world’s leading provider of enterprise video surveillance software, according to newly published research from Omdia and Novaira Insights

The Montreal-based company, which has long promoted open and flexible security solutions, retained the top spot in Omdia’s 2025 Video Surveillance & Analytics Database Report. The findings show Genetec ranked first worldwide in video surveillance software, as well as in the broader category that includes Video Surveillance as a Service (VSaaS).

The company’s push into cloud-based services has also paid off. Its Security Center SaaS, launched in mid-2024, has already propelled Genetec into the top 10 global VSaaS providers, including fourth place in the Americas – the largest and fastest-growing regional market. Adoption of unified VSaaS and Access Control as a Service (ACaaS) is gathering pace as security professionals seek cloud deployment options.

Regionally, Genetec continued its dominance in the Americas, holding the top spot for the 14th consecutive year. In EMEA, it retained second place, posting the largest market share growth among the top 10 vendors. In Asia-Pacific, it ranked third, excluding China.

“The video surveillance market continues to see steady global growth, driven by rising security demands and faster adoption of new technologies,” said Scott Foley, senior analyst for physical security at Omdia. “According to our research, Genetec remains a consistent global leader … maintaining top market share and addressing customer needs with innovative products.”

Separate research from Novaira Insights confirmed Genetec’s global market leadership across software and service agreements. The firm was also cited among the fastest-growing vendors across both hardware and software categories.

Christian Morin, vice president of product engineering and chief security officer at Genetec, said the company’s approach was centred on customer choice. “Organisations deserve the flexibility to deploy solutions exactly the way they want, whether it’s on-premises, in the cloud, or a combination of both approaches,” he said. “At Genetec, we develop solutions that give customers this freedom … without ever being locked into proprietary systems.”

Genetec, which has been developing physical security technology for over 25 years, continues to emphasise open, unified systems built with cybersecurity and privacy by design. Analysts noted that the company’s year-on-year organic growth highlights the strength of its long-term strategy.

Founded in Montreal, the firm serves more than 42,500 customers through a network of accredited partners and consultants across 159 countries. Its portfolio spans video management, access control, automatic licence plate recognition, intrusion detection, intercom and digital evidence management systems.
