India, along with Sri Lanka, Maldives, and Mauritius, signed the Charter and Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the Colombo Security Conclave (CSC) Secretariat. The signing ceremony took place in Colombo on Friday, hosted by the Government of Sri Lanka.

National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval, representing India, joined his counterparts from Maldives, Mauritius, and Sri Lanka in formalizing the agreement. The High Commission of India in Sri Lanka shared images of the event on social media, noting the importance of this step in enhancing collaboration among the member nations.

“The signing of the Charter and MoU for the establishment of the Colombo Security Conclave Secretariat marks a milestone in the CSC roadmap,” the High Commission of India in Sri Lanka stated.

The CSC aims to address common regional security challenges by focusing on five key areas: Maritime Safety and Security, Countering Terrorism and Radicalisation, Combating Trafficking and Transnational Organised Crime, Cyber Security and Protection of Critical Infrastructure and Technology, and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief.

The event concluded with discussions among the heads of delegation, including Ibrahim Latheef, National Security Advisor of Maldives; Haymandoyal Dillum, High Commissioner of Mauritius to Sri Lanka; and Sagala Ratnayake, National Security Advisor to the President of Sri Lanka, on the next steps and future activities of the Conclave.

The CSC is seen as a strategic platform for the member states to work together on security issues that transcend borders, strengthening their collective ability to respond to evolving threats in the region.
