Kanupriya Vazandar, Chief Information Security Officer (Senior General Manager) at Diageo India, has announced her resignation after nearly five years with the company. A recognised expert in information security, Vazandar played a key role in strengthening the security framework of Diageo, one of the world’s leading beverage alcohol companies.

Before joining Diageo India, Vazandar worked with JPMorgan Chase & Co., bringing with her a wealth of experience in cybersecurity and IT governance.

In a heartfelt post on LinkedIn, Vazandar reflected on her time at Diageo, describing it as a period of growth and learning. “My heart is full as I reflect on the last 4.5 years at Diageo. It has been nothing short of a high-octane joyride! There is so much I’ve learned from my esteemed colleagues, and I feel fortunate to have enjoyed their company!” she wrote.

Vazandar emphasized how her experience at Diageo shaped her professional development, including the ability to “unlearn things that no longer serve” her purpose. She credited the company with teaching her the importance of team dynamics, noting that “thriving teams are rarely made up of individuals who are all alike; diverse perspectives contribute significantly to a strong team.”

Her time at Diageo also allowed her to work closely with some of the company’s most iconic brands, including Johnnie Walker, Guinness, Baileys, and Captain Morgan. Reflecting on these experiences, she drew a parallel to the Johnnie Walker logo, which symbolizes forward movement, saying that she had “witnessed [her] team members grow from strength to strength.”

During her tenure, Vazandar was responsible for overseeing several crucial aspects of Diageo India’s security operations. These included IT Governance Controls, Cybersecurity, Project Management, Data Privacy, and Compliance. She also spearheaded significant projects related to Risk and Security Management, Digital Innovation, and governance frameworks like SOX, CCAR, and IFCR. Her efforts helped to elevate both technology and business controls within the organization, ensuring a more robust security posture.

Vazandar concluded her message on an optimistic note, looking forward to the next phase of her career. “Goodbyes are a bittersweet reality, especially when it comes to colleagues with whom we spend so much of our waking hours. I look forward to the next chapter of my career—onwards and upwards!” she said.

With over 15 years of experience in the field, Kanupriya Vazandar’s departure marks a significant transition for Diageo India. Her leadership in cybersecurity and IT management will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on the organization as she moves on to her next venture.
