Vedanta, the global mining and energy conglomerate, has appointed Gopal Prasad Choudhary as Group Head – Security & Intelligence, expanding the scope of its leadership as it strengthens its governance and risk management frameworks across business verticals.
With a market capitalisation exceeding USD 20 billion, Vedanta operates across critical sectors including minerals, metals, energy, and technology. The company is known for its large-scale operations, innovation, and commitment to sustainability and community welfare.
In his new role, Choudhary will report directly to Group CEO Deshnee Naidoo and work closely with business CEOs to enhance the group’s security strategy, intelligence capabilities, and business continuity planning. His responsibilities include leading risk mitigation efforts, integrating human rights into Vedanta’s sustainability agenda, and driving intelligence-led decision-making to safeguard people, assets, and corporate reputation.
A law graduate and veteran of the Indian Army and Police Services, Choudhary brings over 35 years of experience, including leadership roles in the corporate security sector since 2009. He also serves on the Governing Body of Rashtriya Raksha University, which focuses on strategic and security education.
Vedanta said the appointment underscores its commitment to building internal leadership and aligning with global best practices in corporate governance and security.
